# Ask a question in Infinall Chat Type a message, attach files if you like, and get an answer. Learn every button on the chat screen, from the sidebar to Send. Source: https://infinall.ai/docs/chat/ask-a-question Last checked: 2026-10-26 ## What it is Infinall Chat is where you ask questions, write copy, plan campaigns and research topics. You type a message and Infinall AI answers, using your Brand Brain if you picked one. ## Who can use it Everyone. Free and Pro accounts both get the full chat screen. Free accounts start with 1,000 credits and can use any chat setting until those run out. A few options are Pro only, and each is marked on its own page: Deep and Max [research](/docs/chat/research), Model Council with other than 3 reviewers, and live data lookups. ## Cost Mixed. **Auto** replies are free, with a fair use limit. A reply from a single chosen engine, a Model Council answer, research, images, reading speech in a video, voice typing and any message sent after your credits reach zero all use credits. The app does not show a price before you send a chat message. Credits are taken after the reply, based on the engine that answered, and a reply that fails costs nothing. See [price before you confirm](/docs/credits/price-before-you-confirm). ## Where to find it Click **Infinall Chat** in the left sidebar of the app. You can also open the **Chat** tab on Home, type there and send: the message opens Infinall Chat. Your chats are listed in the chat sidebar, grouped by day. ## Buttons and controls | # | Name in the app | What it does | Plan | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 1 | Close sidebar | Hides the chat list to give the reply more room. Press Enter to send, Shift and Enter for a new line. After your first message it reads "Reply to Infinall...". | Both | | 9 | Add files | The plus button. Opens a menu: **Add files or photos**, **Add to project**, **Skills**, **Connectors**, **Create image**, **Web search**, **Memory** and **Research**. | Both | | 10 | Voice typing | Records you and types what you say into the message box. | Both | | 11 | Send message | Sends your message. Switch between the old and new replies, for example 1 / 2. | Both | | | Regenerate | Under the latest reply. Asks for a fresh answer. | Both | | | Branch to new chat | Under a reply. Copies the chat up to that message into a new chat. The original is unchanged. | Both | | | Scroll to latest | Round arrow at the bottom. Shows when you have scrolled up. | Both | | | Show earlier messages | Shows at the top of a long chat. Loads older messages. | Both | ## How to ask a question 1. Open **Infinall Chat**. Click **New chat** if you are in an old chat. 2. Optional: open the **Brand Brain** chip and pick a brand so the answer fits it. 3. Type in the message box. 4. Press **Send message**, or press Enter. 5. Read the reply as it is written. Press **Stop generating** if you want to end it early. ## How to type with your voice 1. Click **Voice typing** and speak. 2. Click it again to stop. The button also stops by itself after a pause. Esc cancels. 3. Check the text that appeared, then press **Send message**. ## How to change what you sent 1. Hover over your message and click **Edit message**. 2. Change the text and press **Send**. The old reply stays as a version, and you can switch back with **Previous version**. ## Options explained **Reply streaming.** The reply appears word by word. While Infinall AI works you may see small cards: a to-do list for bigger jobs, a searching card when it reads the web, and a research card for [research](/docs/chat/research). **Questions from Infinall AI.** Sometimes Infinall AI asks you a few questions first. A form shows the choices. Pick one, or type your own under "Or type your own answer...", then press **Send answers**. **Under each reply.** A small line shows which engine wrote the reply. For Auto it shows an **Auto** badge. When a reply was cut off by **Stop generating**, the line "Stopped. Edit your message or regenerate to continue." shows. **Long text you paste.** If you paste text of 2,000 characters or 25 lines or more, it becomes a text file attachment named pasted-text.txt instead of filling the box. **Slash skills.** Type / in the box to open your skills list. See [skills](/docs/chat/memory-skills-and-connectors). **Leaving the page.** A reply that is already running keeps going if you open another page. A pulsing dot next to the chat in the sidebar shows it is still working. ## Limits - You can attach up to 5 files to one message. See [files and images](/docs/chat/files-and-images). - A chat name can be up to 120 characters. - Long chats show 60 messages at a time. Use **Show earlier messages** for older ones. - Auto allows 6 messages a minute, 60 an hour and 300 a day. - A voice typing clip can be up to 2 minutes and 5 MB. You can send 20 clips a minute and 300 an hour. - Infinall always keeps your last 4 messages word for word. Older turns are summarised and large files are searched, so nothing is dropped. ## When something goes wrong | Message in the app | What it means | What to do | | --- | --- | --- | | You're out of credits. Top up or upgrade to keep chatting. | Your balance is zero or below, and the choice you made uses credits. | Switch to **Auto**, or add credits in Settings > Billing. | | We couldn't check your credits right now. You are not charged. | Press **Regenerate** or pick another engine. | | The model is busy right now. Try again in a few seconds or pick another model. | The engine is overloaded. | Wait a moment, or pick another engine. | | This chat is longer than the model can read at once. Start a new chat, or pin only what matters and try again. | The chat is too long. | Start a **New chat**, or pin the messages that matter. | | No response came back. Try again. | Nothing was returned. | Send again. | | The server did not return a response. | The request failed with no detail. | Send again. | | This reply was interrupted. Send your message again to retry. | A reply was cut off, for example by a restart. | Send the message again. | | A message or at least one attachment is required. | You tried to send an empty message. | Type a message or add a file. | | Couldn't save this chat. It will retry on your next message. | Saving the chat failed. | Send another message. | | Couldn't open that chat. Try again. | Opening a chat from the list failed. | Click the chat again. | | Conversation not found. | The chat id is wrong or not yours. | Open a chat from the list. | ## Questions ### Can I send a file without typing anything? Yes. You need either a message or at least one attachment. ### What is the difference between Auto and choosing an engine myself? Auto is free and picks the best engine for each message. Choosing one yourself uses credits. See [Auto mode and quality](/docs/chat/auto-and-quality). ### Does a reply stop if I leave the chat? No. A reply that is already running keeps going on the server. Open the chat again later and it is there. ### How do I get a different answer? Press **Regenerate** under the reply. Or press **Edit message** on your own message, change it and press **Send**. Both keep the old reply as a version. ### How do I make Infinall remember something from this chat? Press **Pin (always remember this)** under the message.
