# Research Turn on Research and Infinall AI plans, searches the web, reads pages, checks claims and writes a cited report. Choose Quick, Deep or Max. Infinall AI plans the question, searches the web in rounds, reads many pages, cross checks the key facts and writes a long report with numbered sources. ## Who can use it Everyone can use **Quick**. **Deep** and **Max** are Pro only. On Free, **Deep** and **Max** look greyed out, and clicking them opens Settings > Billing. ## Cost Uses credits. The app does not show a price before you start. The credits taken depend on the engine used and how long the run is, and you can stop the run at any time. A deeper level reads more and uses more credits. See [price before you confirm](/docs/credits/price-before-you-confirm). ## Where to find it Open **Infinall Chat**, click the plus button (**Add files**) and switch **Research** on. Three level buttons appear under it. Be specific about scope, region, timeframe...". | Both | ## How to run research 1. Click **Add files** and switch **Research** on. 2. Pick a level: **Quick**, **Deep** or **Max**. On Pro the level starts at **Max**, so change it if you want a shorter run. 3. Type your question. Be specific about topic, region and timeframe. 4. Press **Send message**. 5. Watch the research card. It shows the title, the steps, the time and counters for searches, pages read, useful sources and coverage. 6. Read the report when it appears. It has numbered sources and checked claims. ## How to cancel research - Before you send: click **Cancel deep research**, the x on the chip. - While it runs: click **Stop generating** or press Esc. A run keeps going on the server if you leave the chat or close the tab. When the report is saved, you get a notification: "Your research report is ready". ## Options explained **The six steps.** The card shows them as a bar: Plan, Search, Read, Verify, Synthesise and Write. In Verify, Infinall AI cross checks key claims, flags contradictions and decides what to look for in the next round. **Counters on the card.** | Counter | Meaning | | --- | --- | | searches | Web searches made so far. | | pages read | Pages opened and read. | | useful sources | Pages that turned out to be relevant. | | coverage | How much of the planned report outline has evidence. A run can finish sooner. **Extended thinking.** If Extended thinking is on, the card also narrates its steps as thinking. ## Limits - Research uses a fixed process. Auto and Model Council cannot be used with it, so turning Research on moves the picker to a single engine. - Quick is the only level on Free. - Each level stops at its time limit, shown in the table above. ## When something goes wrong | Message in the app | What it means | What to do | | --- | --- | --- | | Deep and Max research are part of Infinall Pro. | A Free account asked for Deep or Max. | Use **Quick**, or upgrade in Settings > Billing. | | You're out of credits. Web search checks the live web for one answer. Research runs many rounds, reads many pages, checks claims and writes a long report. A notification tells you when the report is ready. ### Does it show where the facts come from? Yes. The report cites numbered sources and you can open the sources list under it. ### Which level should I pick? Quick for a fast overview. Deep or Max when you need a long, well checked report.
