## What it is

When a motion video is built, the card says **Video ready**. The MP4 file is made only when you click **Export MP4**. Nothing exports by itself.

## Who can use it

Everyone. Exporting and downloading work the same on Free and Pro.

## Cost

Free, no credits. Exporting the file and downloading it never use credits. See [What uses credits and what is free](/docs/credits/what-is-free).

## Where to find it

On the finished video card on the canvas of your **Studio** project.

## How to export and download

1. Wait for the card to say **Video ready**.
2. Click **Export MP4**. The card shows **Exporting MP4...**.
3. When it finishes, the card turns into a video player. Press play to watch. It loops and starts muted.

## How to add it to your calendar or Library

1. Open **Motion video actions** on the card.
2. Choose **Add to calendar** to schedule a post, or **Save to Library** to keep it in your Library.

## Options explained

**Size.** **Export MP4** has no settings. The file is one standard HD file, and its shape follows the **Aspect ratio** you chose.

**Add to calendar.** If a video has no file yet, the calendar makes the file when the post is scheduled.

**Download without a file.** **Download** does not export for you. Click **Export MP4** first.

## Limits

- Only a finished video can be exported.
- One export runs at a time for a video.

## When something goes wrong

| Message in the app | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| This motion video has no MP4 yet. Click Export MP4 on the card first, then download. | You tried **Download** before the file existed. | Click **Export MP4**, wait, then download. |
| Nothing could be downloaded. Motion videos need Export MP4 first. | A ZIP held only videos with no file. | Export the MP4, then try again. |
| Export failed | A row in the activity feed. The file could not be made. The card may keep showing **Exporting MP4...**. | Reload the project, then click **Export MP4** again. |

## Questions

### Why do I have to click Export MP4?

The file is only made when you ask for it. That keeps the build quick. Exporting is free.

### Can I watch the video before exporting?

The card shows its length, shape and **Export MP4**. The player appears once the file is made.

### Does exporting use credits?

No. Only the AI work that makes the video uses credits.

### Can I choose the size or quality of the file?

Not in the app. **Export MP4** makes one standard HD file in the shape you picked.

### Where does the downloaded file go?

Your browser saves it to its normal downloads folder. See [Download and export](/docs/studio/download-and-export) for how other things on the canvas download.
