## What it is

This page covers what happens when a motion video does not finish, how credits are handled, and answers to the questions people ask most about Motion.

## Who can use it

Everyone. Free and Pro get the same behaviour.

## Cost

Free, no credits. Reading this page and looking at a failed video cost nothing. You are charged only for AI work that actually ran. Work that did not run is not charged.

## Where to find it

A failed video shows in two places in your **Studio** project: a red line in the chat, and the activity card with the step where it stopped.

## Buttons and controls

<!-- shot: motion/failures-and-questions -->

| # | Name in the app | What it does | Plan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Activity rows | The steps in the chat card. A red cross marks the step that failed. Click a row with an arrow to read more. | Both |
| 2 | Copy | Copies your message so you can send it again. Shows when you move over it. | Both |
| 3 | Generate motion video | Send the prompt again from the box. | Both |

## How to recover from a failed video

1. Open the activity card in the chat. Find the row with the red cross and read its detail.
2. If it says **Out of credits**, open **Settings > Credits** and add credits.
3. Click **Copy** on your earlier message, paste it into the prompt box, delete the "Motion: " at the start, and click **Generate motion video**.
4. If it fails again, shorten the prompt or pick a different **Motion model** and try again.

## Options explained

**How credits are handled.** When you send a prompt, the app holds 10 credits. If your balance cannot cover that, the video does not start. As the video is made, the AI work it uses is counted. When the video ends, you pay for what was used and the rest of the hold goes back. The chat tells you how many credits the finished video used.

**Running out in the middle.** If your balance runs out during the build, the video stops and nothing more is charged. A row named **Out of credits** shows with this detail: Add credits to continue. Nothing more was charged.

**Why a video can fail.**

- The balance was too low to start, or ran out during the build.
- A step in the build could not finish.
- A brand was picked that has no confirmed version.
- A voiceover was asked for and could not be made.

## Limits

- A video that has started runs to its end, or until it fails or credits run out.
- A failed video does not turn into a file, and its card leaves the canvas. Send the prompt again to get a new one.

## When something goes wrong

| Message in the app | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Couldn't make that motion video. | The video did not start or did not finish. The card on the canvas is removed. | Open the activity card, find the failed row, fix the cause and send the prompt again. |
| Out of credits | A feed row. Your balance ran out during the build. | Add credits in **Settings > Credits** and send again. |
| Generation failed | A card on the canvas after a reload, for a failed job with no reason given. | Send the prompt again. |
| Out of credits. This video stopped. Add credits to continue. | A card on the canvas after a reload, for a video that ran out of credits. | Add credits in **Settings > Credits** and send again. |
| Answered. | Your message was not read as a video brief and no video was made. | Write the prompt as a video brief. |
| Add a short description for your motion project. | You sent from **Home** with an empty box. | Type a prompt or click a **Start with** card. |

## Questions

### Am I charged for a failed video?

You are charged for the AI work that ran before it failed. Work that never ran is not charged, and the unused part of the opening hold goes back. Check the exact amounts in **Settings > Credits**.

### Why did it fail right away?

Most often the balance was too low to start. Add credits and send again.

### What if I do not want the result?

A started video runs to its end, fails, or stops when credits run out. Ignore the result or delete the card.

### Does the video keep building if I close the tab?

Yes. The job keeps running. Open the project again and the card comes back.

### Will Motion read a question and answer it?

No. Send a video brief. A message that reads like a question may only get the reply **Answered.** and make no video.

### Where do I see what a video cost?

In the chat, after the video finishes, and in **Settings > Credits** under **Credit activity**.

### Is Motion free?

Open to every account. Making a video uses credits. Exporting and downloading are free.
