## What it is

While a video is being made, two things update live. A card on the canvas shows the stage and a progress bar. A card in the chat lists each step as it starts and finishes.

## Who can use it

Everyone. Free and Pro see the same live view.

## Cost

Free, no credits. Watching never uses credits. The video itself uses credits, see [Make a motion video](/docs/motion/make-a-motion-video).

## Where to find it

Open the **Studio** project where you started the video. The card is on the canvas. The activity card is in the chat panel on the right, under your message that starts with "Motion:".

## Buttons and controls

<!-- shot: motion/watch-it-being-made -->

| # | Name in the app | What it does | Plan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Video title and scene count | The top bar of the card. It shows the video title once the plan is ready, and "N scenes" while it builds. | Both |
| 2 | Aspect badge | A small tag in the corner of the card with the shape, for example 16:9. | Both |
| 3 | Stage text | What is happening now, for example **Starting...** or **Designing the scenes**. | Both |
| 4 | Progress bar | A coloured bar along the bottom of the preview. It grows as the build moves on. | Both |
| 5 | Scene strip | A row under the preview with one small tile per scene. It shows when there is more than one scene. Each tile has the scene number and its purpose. | Both |
| 6 | Making your video | The title of the activity card in the chat. When the video is done it becomes a line that starts with **Video ready** and says how long it took and how many credits it used. | Both |
| 7 | Generating... | The line under the title while it builds. It changes to **Done**. | Both |
| 8 | Activity rows | One row per step. A spinner means running, a tick means done, a red cross means failed. Rows with a small arrow open to show more. | Both |

## How to follow a video

1. Send your prompt with **Generate motion video**.
2. Look at the card on the canvas. Read the stage text and watch the bar.
3. In the chat, read the activity card. Click any row with an arrow to open it.
4. When the chat line starts with **Video ready** and the canvas card says **Video ready**, the build is finished. Next, [export the MP4](/docs/motion/export-mp4).

## Options explained

**Steps you may see in the activity feed.** Which ones appear depends on your prompt.

| Row | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Starting | The video job has begun. |
| Looking at your images | Pictures attached to the job are being read. |
| Listening to your music | Music attached to the job is being read. |
| Writing the shot list | Your prompt is being turned into scenes. If you wrote a scene by scene list, the row says **Reading your shot list**. |
| Preparing visual assets | Icons, brand logo and other visuals are being gathered. |
| Recording the voiceover | Your voiceover lines are being spoken. Only when you asked for a voice. |
| Composing music | A music track is being chosen and fitted to the length. Only when you asked for music. |
| Mixing voice, music and effects | The soundtrack is being put together. |
| Designing the scenes | Every scene is written as animation. One row per scene sits under this row, **Scene 1**, **Scene 2** and so on, each with its purpose. |
| Checking the scene code | A quick check that the scenes are sound. |
| Checking layout and readability | Text is checked so it is not cut off or hard to read. Longer, richer prompts get this and the next checks. |
| Carry inspector: does each scene grow out of the last? | The joins between scenes are checked. |
| Review: QA + creative director on real frames | Real frames are reviewed and fixed. |
| Polishing scene N | A scene is being improved after review. |
| Your video is ready | Done. The detail shows the length and the number of scenes. |

**Rows that open.** A row with an arrow opens to show more, such as the script, the voiceover lines, the shot list or what was found. Each shows its own label, for example **Script**, **Voiceover** or **Shot list**.

**Time on a row.** A finished row shows how long it took.

**Stage text on the card.** Typical stages are **Reading your attachments**, **Preparing visual assets**, **Designing the scenes**, **Checking the frames**, **Finishing** and **Ready**.

## Limits

- The feed shows one row per step. A step that runs twice updates the same row.
- Quick prompts skip the deeper checks, so they have fewer rows and finish sooner.

## When something goes wrong

| Message in the app | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Out of credits | A row in the activity feed. Your balance ran out while the video was being made. Its detail reads: Add credits to continue. Nothing more was charged. | Add credits in **Settings > Credits**, then send the prompt again. |
| Music could not be generated | The music step failed. The video continues without a track. | Ask for music again later, or leave it out. |
| Couldn't make that motion video. | The whole build failed. It shows as the title line of the activity card, and the card on the canvas is removed. | Open the rows to see the last step, then send the prompt again. |
| Generation failed | A card on the canvas that comes back after a reload with a failed job and no reason given. | Send the prompt again. |
| Out of credits. This video stopped. Add credits to continue. | A card on the canvas that comes back after a reload, for a video that ran out of credits. | Add credits in **Settings > Credits**, then send the prompt again. |

## Questions

### Why is there no preview of each scene?

The scene strip lists each scene by number and purpose. It does not show a picture of the scene while the video builds.

### How long does a video take?

It depends on the length and the prompt. The card shows how many seconds have passed. Quick prompts finish sooner than long, detailed ones.

### Can I leave the page while it builds?

Yes. The job keeps running. When you open the project again, the card comes back and picks up where it is.

### What does the number next to the title mean?

While building it is the scene count. When the video is done it shows the length and the shape, for example 15s and 16:9.

### What if I do not want the video any more?

Once a video starts it runs to its end, fails, or stops when your credits run out. Ignore the result, or delete the card when it is done.
