## What it is

An avatar is your face and your voice saved together. Make it once, then pick it in any video so a presenter that looks like you says your lines.

## Who can use it

Pro only. Video is part of the Pro plan. The backend checks your plan on every avatar step, including the photo check, so a Free account cannot make one. Avatars are your own: you must confirm the face and voice are yours, or that you have permission.

## Cost

Uses credits. You see the exact price before you confirm for the video. Making an avatar takes about a minute and uses credits for the AI work it does. A hold is taken first, so an empty balance is refused before anything starts. If a step fails, nothing is charged for it.

## Where to find it

Press the plus button in the video composer, **Add files and advanced video settings**. The **Avatar** section is at the top. **Create avatar** opens the **Avatar and voice** window.

2. In **Create my avatar**, step 1 is **Face**. Press **Use camera**, put your face inside the oval and press **Start recording**.
3. Follow the words on screen: "Look straight at the camera", then "Slowly turn your head left", then "Now slowly turn right". It stops by itself after 6 seconds.
4. Or press **Upload photos or a video** and pick up to 6 photos, or one video.
5. Press **Next**. Step 2 is **Voice**: see [Voice](/docs/video/voice).
6. In step 3, **Save**, type an avatar name, tick the consent box and press **Save avatar**.
7. Wait about a minute. The avatar is saved and picked for your next video.

## How to make an avatar from photos only

1. In the **Avatar and voice** window, open the **Avatars** tab.
2. Press **Add photo** and choose a clear, front facing photo of yourself. Press **Add angle** to add more angles for a closer likeness.
3. Wait for "Checking the photo for faces...". If the photo has more than one face, press the face that is you.
4. Type a name and tick the consent box.
5. Press **Create avatar**. It says "Generating your avatar (about a minute)..." while it works.

A presenter face is generated from your photos and saved. The photos themselves are not kept.

## How to use an avatar in a video

1. Press the plus button.
2. In **Avatar**, press the picture card for your avatar. A chip with its name appears next to the plus button.
3. Pick a model that works with your avatar. See Options explained.
4. Press **Create video**.

To take it off, press **No avatar** or the **x** on the chip.

## How to delete an avatar

1. Open the **Avatar and voice** window and the **Avatars** tab.
2. Under **Saved avatars**, press **Delete (name)**.
3. Press **Delete?** to confirm.

## Options explained

**Consent.** The tick box says: "This is me (or I have their permission). I consent to my face and voice being used to make my videos, and my voice being cloned by our voice provider." You cannot save without it.

**Selfie tips.** Keep your face in the oval and turn slowly. If the camera cannot be reached, the window tells you, and you can upload photos or a video instead.

**Saved avatars.** Each card shows its picture and name, and says "Ready for videos", or "Generated presenter - ready for videos". If an avatar cannot be used yet, the card says why.

**Models and avatars.** Once an avatar is picked, the model list splits into **Works with your avatar** and **Can't use your avatar**. The best match shows a star and "Best for avatars". Some rows say "Face may change in long clips" and some show a green "Face + voice". If your model cannot use a real face, the app switches you to one that can and says so, with an **Undo**.

**Which formats suit an avatar.** **avatar** is a presenter speaking straight to the camera. **ugc**, **testimonial** and **interview** also use a visible person. The format note for **avatar** says it is a consented portrait with generated speech, not custom avatar training.

**Lip sync.** See [Voice](/docs/video/voice).

- You can add up to 6 photos for an avatar.

## Questions

### Is the avatar my face only, or my voice too?

Both. The first tab makes one avatar with your face and your voice together. The **Avatars** tab makes a face only, and you add a voice in the **Voices** tab.

### Can I use someone else's face?

Only with their permission. You must confirm this when you save, and the box says so.

### Are my photos kept?

The photos you upload are used to make a presenter face, and the photos themselves are not kept. The saved avatar is.

### Can I make several avatars?

Yes. Each has its own name, and you pick one per video.

### Does it look exactly like me?

The result can be a close likeness, but the app does not promise an exact match. If an avatar was made from a description and may not look like your photo, the window tells you and asks you to check the preview.

### Can I use an avatar in a video with no speech?

Yes. With an avatar picked and the lip sync switch off, the avatar appears and the model keeps its own sound.
