## What it is

A format tells Infinall what kind of video to make: an ad, a product demo, a talking presenter, an explainer and more. Leave it on **auto** and the format is chosen from your brief.

## Who can use it

Video is part of the Pro plan. Free accounts see an upgrade prompt. Every format is open to every Pro account.

## Cost

Uses credits. You see the exact price before you confirm. Formats built from your own files, such as **text-motion** and **slideshow**, are put together without generated footage.

## Where to find it

In the video composer, press the format button. It reads **Video format:** and the current format. You can also type **/** at the start of your brief to open a short list.

## Buttons and controls

<!-- shot: video/video-formats -->

| # | Name in the app | What it does | Plan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Search formats, e.g. ad, presenter, handheld | The search box at the top of the gallery. It matches format names, group names and descriptions. | Pro |
| 2 | Close | Closes the gallery. Esc does the same. | Pro |
| 3 | (format cards) | Each card shows the format name, its default length and shape when it has one, and a short description. Press a card to choose it. | Pro |
| | Video formats | The small list that opens when your brief starts with **/**. Use the arrow keys and Enter to pick, Esc to close. | Pro |
| | Close video formats | The **x** on that small list. | Pro |

The gallery says "Choose a video format" and counts the matches as "N of M". If nothing matches it says "No format matches" and your search.

## How to choose a format

1. In the composer, press **Video format**.
2. Look through the groups, or type in **Search formats**.
3. Press a card. The gallery closes and the format button shows your choice.

To use the short list instead, type **/** at the start of your brief, move to a format and press Enter. The **/** and the format name are taken out of your brief for you.

## Questions

### Which format should I pick?

If you are not sure, leave it on **auto**. Your brief decides. To control it, pick the one that matches the job: **short-ad** for an ad, **ugc** for a casual phone style video, **avatar** for a presenter, **explanation** for a how it works video.

### Do I need to know the format names?

No. The gallery describes each one, and you can search by what you want, such as "presenter".

### Can I change the format later?

Not on a finished video. Make a new video with the format you want.

### Which formats use no generated footage?

**text-motion** and **slideshow** are put together from your words and your images.

### Is there a sample for each format?

The app does not show a sample clip in the gallery. Each card shows a short description, and its default length and shape when it has one.
