What Is a Marketing Mix? The 4 Ps and How Digital Teams Use It
A marketing mix is the combination of controllable levers a business uses to bring a product to market. The classic framework is the 4 Ps: product, price, place and promotion. The term is also sometimes used, more loosely, for how a budget is split across channels.
The 4 Ps break down as follows. Product is what you sell and how it is packaged. Price is what you charge and how (one-time, subscription, tiers, discounts). Place is where and how customers can get it: your website, an app store, a marketplace, a reseller. Promotion is how people learn about it, including advertising, content, email and partnerships. Services and software are often analysed with extra Ps such as people, process and physical evidence.
The point of the framework is that the levers interact. A change to price changes who the product appeals to, which changes which promotion makes sense. Running more ads for a product whose pricing or positioning is off tends to waste money, which is why teams review all the Ps together before scaling spend on promotion alone.
Two meanings are worth keeping apart. The 4 Ps are a planning checklist. Splitting spend across channels (paid social, search, email, content) is a channel mix, which falls under promotion. Quantitative methods that estimate each channel's contribution are a separate topic (see what-is-a-media-mix-model).
Why it matters
Infinall AI turns a product URL into research, strategy, ad copy and creative that land in an Approval Queue for you to review before export. In marketing-mix terms, it works on promotion: it reads your product page, researches competitor ads and positioning, and drafts copy and creative. It does not set your price, change your product or pick your distribution channels, and it does not buy media or manage live ad spend. Use the 4 Ps as the check you run first, then use Infinall to produce promotion assets that fit the product, price and place you have decided on.

Frequently asked questions
What are the 4 Ps of the marketing mix?
Product, price, place and promotion. Product is what you sell, price is what you charge, place is where customers can get it, and promotion is how you make them aware of it. Service businesses often add people, process and physical evidence for a 7 Ps version.
Is a marketing mix the same as a channel mix?
No. The marketing mix is the broader planning framework covering product, price, place and promotion. A channel mix is how you divide promotion spend across channels such as paid social, search or email. Channel mix is one part of the promotion lever.
