ROAS measures revenue, not profit. Free, no sign-up. Runs in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use it

ROAS shows the revenue earned for each rupee or dollar spent on ads.

  1. Pick your currency; this changes the symbol, not the amounts.
  2. Enter revenue and spend for the same ads and dates, using the same attribution method.
  3. Compare your result with your break-even ROAS.

Formula

ROAS = revenue from ads ÷ ad spend

ROAS as a percentage = revenue from ads × 100 ÷ ad spend

Example

Home-décor store, India

March sales from Instagram and Facebook ads, measured in ₹.

Revenue from ads
₹5,46,000
Ad spend
₹1,40,000

Questions

What is a good ROAS?

It depends on your costs. Break-even ROAS is 100 ÷ gross margin percentage, before costs excluded from that margin. Use the Break-even ROAS Calculator with your own margin.

How do I calculate ROAS?

Divide ad revenue by ad spend in the same currency. ₹5,46,000 ÷ ₹1,40,000 gives 3.90x, or 390%; $22,770 ÷ $6,900 gives 3.30x, or 330%. These are separate examples, not benchmarks or currency conversions.

Does a ROAS above 1x mean my ads made money?

No. Product, delivery, payment and other costs can leave a loss even when revenue exceeds ad spend.

Should I write ROAS as 4x or 400%?

Either: 4x and 400% mean the same thing. Multiply revenue divided by spend by 100 to get the percentage; it is not profit or ROI.

How is ROAS different from MER and ROI?

ROAS compares revenue from specific ads with their cost. MER divides total revenue by total ad spend across channels. ROI compares profit after relevant costs with investment and can be negative even when ROAS is positive.
