How to use it
Create three TikTok carousel sizes from one image: 1200 × 628, 640 × 640 and 720 × 1280. Crop around your subject or fit the whole image inside.
- Choose or drop a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF image.
- Pick sizes and choose Fill and crop or Fit inside to keep the whole image.
- Choose JPG for smaller files or PNG, then check the preview.
- Check each file against TikTok's suggested 100 KB, then download.
How it works
For source W × H and target w × h: if W × h ≥ H × w, crop height = H and crop width = H × w ÷ h; otherwise crop width = W and crop height = W × h ÷ w
Scale = w ÷ crop width; above 1 means enlargement

What size should a TikTok ad image be?
TikTok lists horizontal 1200 × 628, square 640 × 640 and vertical 720 × 1280, as JPG or PNG.
Is 100 KB a hard limit for TikTok ad images?
No, 100 KB or less is a suggestion. Choose JPG and lower the quality to reduce file size; larger files still download.
Can I use these files in a TikTok video ad?
They are still images. The 720 × 1280 and 640 × 640 files meet TikTok's minimum video sizes for 9:16 (540 × 960) and 1:1 (640 × 640), but 1200 × 628 is 1.91:1, which is not one of the video ratios TikTok lists (9:16, 16:9, 1:1).
What does the safe-zone guide show?
It uses TikTok's in-feed video template for a standard caption with no anchors as a design guide for images. Safe zones vary by format, caption length and add-ons. The overlay is not saved in your file.
Why does my horizontal version look soft?
A portrait or square photo 1080 px wide has to stretch to fill 1200 px, so it is enlarged 1.11x. Use a source at least 1200 px wide to avoid it.
How do the example crops change the image?
The hamper example uses JPG quality 92; its horizontal crop keeps 41.9% of the poster. Fit inside keeps the full headline in the vertical clear area. For the coffee photo, move focus right to keep the sticker: the vertical crop is 1687.5 px wide and keeps 42%.
