Frequency is an average from the metric’s definition (checked 26 Oct 2026), not platform data or a benchmark. Free, no sign-up. Runs in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use it

Divide impressions by reach to see how many times each person saw your ad. Use the same campaigns and dates for both, and compare with earlier periods of the same campaign.

  1. Pick one date range in your ads manager and copy impressions and reach for it.
  2. Enter impressions and reach as whole numbers.
  3. Read the frequency. If reach is above impressions, check the dates or swap them.

Formula

Ad frequency = impressions ÷ reach

Repeat views = impressions − reach

Example

Kurta label in Lucknow, India

A two-week campaign for a ₹1,899 chikankari kurta.

Impressions
2,73,600
Reach
96,000

Questions

What does ad frequency mean?

It is the average number of times each person in your reach saw the ad during the period: impressions ÷ reach. A frequency of 2.85 means, for example, 2,73,600 impressions were spread over 96,000 people.

Why can’t reach be higher than impressions?

Reach counts people who saw the ad at least once, and each of them needed at least one impression. Reach can equal impressions (frequency 1.00) but never exceed it. If it does, the numbers were swapped, cover different dates, or the reach is a sum of daily figures.

What ad frequency is too high?

This page gives no cut-off: we have no reliable source for one, and the right level depends on your offer, audience size and campaign length. Track the same campaign over time instead. If frequency keeps rising while clicks or conversions per impression fall, try new creative or a wider audience.

Can I add up daily reach to get the reach for a week?

No. Someone who saw the ad on Monday and again on Friday is in both days’ reach but only once in the week’s reach. Seven days of 2,000 add up to 14,000, which can be far more people than the ad really reached. Use the reach your platform reports for the whole date range.

Does a frequency of 3.00 mean everyone saw my ad 3 times?

Not always. It is an average: 3,000 impressions over a reach of 1,000 could be everyone seeing the ad 3 times, or 200 people seeing it 11 times and 800 people once. Impressions and reach alone can’t tell these apart.
