How to use it
Find the share of ad impressions that led to a click. Take clicks and impressions from the same report row and date range.
- Open your ad report and choose one campaign, ad set or ad for a single date range.
- Enter its clicks and impressions as whole numbers.
- Read the CTR. If clicks exceed impressions, check for swapped values.
- To combine campaigns, add up clicks and impressions first; don't average CTRs.
Formula
CTR = clicks × 100 ÷ impressions
Example
Jaipur handloom store
A 14-day campaign for a handloom store. Illustrative counts, not a target.
- Clicks
- 2,847
- Impressions
- 196,500
Questions
What is the CTR formula?
CTR = clicks × 100 ÷ impressions. If an ad was shown 2,000 times and clicked 30 times, its CTR is 1.5%. Both numbers must cover the same ads and dates. Multiplying by 100 converts the fraction into a percentage.
Why does this calculator refuse more clicks than impressions?
This calculator treats clicks as a subset of impressions and requires a rate between 0% and 100%. If clicks are higher, check for swapped values or mismatched report rows. A report that counts multiple interactions per impression may use a different click definition; do not mix those counts.
Which click and impression numbers should I use?
Use one row of the same report for the same date range. If it has several click columns, choose the one that answers your question and keep that definition consistent. Do not pair all clicks from one report with impressions from a different campaign or period.
Is my CTR good?
This calculator does not grade your rate or supply an unsupported benchmark. Compare with your own campaign history or ad variants shown to comparable audiences. A higher CTR alone does not prove more sales or greater profit.
Why does a tiny CTR show as less than 0.01%?
Positive rates below 0.01% are shown as less than 0.01% so they cannot be mistaken for zero clicks. One click from 15,000 impressions is about 0.0067%. Other rates display up to two decimal places; calculations keep full precision.
How is CTR different from conversion rate?
CTR measures clicks relative to impressions. Conversion rate measures completed goals, such as purchases or sign-ups, relative to visitors. Use the conversion rate calculator for that next step rather than interpreting every click as a sale.
