Snapchat Ad Specs: Size, Safe Zone, File Types and Text Limits

Snapchat ad specs for a Single Image or Video ad are a 9:16 vertical file at 1080 x 1920 pixels, in .jpg, .png, .mp4 or .mov, running 3 to 180 seconds. The brand name can be up to 25 characters and the headline up to 34 characters with spaces. Keep key content inside the safe zone: 150 pixels from the top, 620 pixels from the bottom and 54 pixels from each side.

Snapchat ads are full screen and vertical, so almost every format starts from the same 9:16 canvas. What changes between formats is the length, the file types and the text that sits on top of your creative. This guide lists the specs from Snapchat's own business pages, explains the safe zone, and gives a short checklist for making a file that passes on the first upload. Snapchat says to check the requirements for your exact ad format, so use the table as a starting point and confirm in Ads Manager before you launch.

Snapchat Ad Specs: Size, Safe Zone, File Types and Text Limits

  1. Pick the ad format first

Decide whether you are making a Single Image or Video ad, a Story ad, a Collection ad or a Commercial. The canvas is 9:16 for all of them, but the length rules and file types differ. A Commercial must be video, in .mp4 or .mov with H.264, while a Single Image or Video ad also accepts .jpg and .png.

  2. Set a 1080 x 1920 vertical canvas

Start the design or edit at 1080 x 1920 pixels in a 9:16 shape. If you are adapting a square or landscape asset, rebuild the layout for a tall screen rather than placing the old picture in the middle with empty bands. Full screen is the point of the format.

  3. Mark the safe zone before you add text

Draw guides 150 pixels from the top, 620 pixels from the bottom and 54 pixels from each side. Keep your logo, offer, product shot and any legal line inside that box, because the brand name, headline and call to action button sit over the edges. Background imagery can run to the edges.

  4. Write the brand name, headline and CTA

Keep the brand name to 25 characters and the headline to 34 characters, both counted with spaces. You choose the call to action text in Ads Manager and Snapchat draws the button, so do not paint your own button into the bottom of the frame.

  5. Export and check the file

Export a .mp4 or .mov for video, or a .jpg or .png for a still. Check the length is between 3 and 180 seconds, and between 3 and 6 seconds for a Standard Commercial. Snapchat suggests 0:03 to 0:05 as the sweet spot for video length to drive action, so a short cut is often worth making alongside a longer one.

  6. Use Infinall AI or a free tool for the asset

If the picture already exists and only needs the right shape, the free All-in-One Ad Resizer resizes an ad image with editable presets. If you need new creative, Infinall AI can make a 9:16 image or motion video from your saved brand; download the file and upload it in Snapchat Ads Manager yourself, then check it against this table.

Snapchat ad specs safe zone

Snapchat's unified safe zone is 150 pixels from the top of the creative, 620 pixels from the bottom and 54 pixels from the left and right sides. Snapchat explains that keeping to it makes sure key messages, hero imagery and legal disclaimers do not overlap parts of the Snapchat interface, such as the Call To Action button.

The bottom margin is the big one. On a 1080 x 1920 canvas, 620 pixels is roughly the bottom third of the screen, which is where many designers like to put a price or a button. Move that content up into the middle of the frame. Treat the margins as space for atmosphere: background, texture, the edge of a product, but nothing a viewer must read.

Snapchat ad size by format

Snapchat's Single Image or Video ad page lists a 9:16 aspect ratio at 1080px x 1920px. The general ad formats overview lists 720x1280 for several formats. Both are 9:16, so a 1080 x 1920 file covers either and gives you more detail on modern phones.

Story ads add two small assets on top of the full screen ads: a tile image in .png up to 2MB at 360px x 600px, and a logo in .png at 993px x 284px. The tile headline can be up to 55 characters with spaces. A Story ad opens a collection of 1 to 10 videos or images, and each of those follows the 9:16 full screen spec.

Snapchat ad specs 2025 vs now

Snapchat updates its specs pages without version numbers, so a list labelled 2025 may already be out of date. The values on this page were read from Snapchat for Business on 2026-10-29. Where Snapchat's own pages differ, for example the 720x1280 figure on the overview page and the 1080px x 1920px figure on the Single Image or Video page, we show both and recommend the larger size. Before a big launch, open the format page in Snapchat for Business and the preview in Ads Manager, and trust those over any third-party list, including this one.

Where Infinall AI helps and where it does not

Infinall AI makes images and motion videos from your saved brand, so the logo, colours and voice match your other ads. Images come in nine shapes including 9:16, and the 9:16 image is 864 x 1536 pixels, which is below Snapchat's 1080 x 1920 recommendation but above the 720x1280 figure on the overview page. Motion videos can be set to 9:16 on Free and Pro, and Video, a Pro feature, makes story ads that are always 9:16.

Snapchat is not one of the platforms the Infinall Social Hub publishes to, and Infinall does not buy media for you. You download the file, which is free, and upload it in Snapchat Ads Manager. If you already have finished creative and only need it resized, a resizer is quicker than making something new.
