Google Ads for Local Business in India: A Plain Setup Guide
Google Ads for a local business in India works best as a Search campaign aimed at a small area around your shop, with call and location assets so people can phone you or get directions. You set an average daily budget, Google charges at most 30.4 times that in a month for most campaigns, and Google India adds 18% GST unless you give a valid GSTIN.

| Setting | What it does | What to pick for a local shop or service |
|---|---|---|
| Location targeting | Shows ads to people in, regularly in, or interested in the places you choose | Your city or a small area around the shop; check whether you want physical location only |
| Location asset | Adds your address, a map or the travel distance to the ad | Turn on if people visit you; it can show on Search, Display, YouTube and Google Maps |
| Call asset | Adds a call button with your phone number | Turn on for service businesses; show it only in hours you can answer |
| Ad schedule | Limits the hours or days ads can show | Match your opening hours, since campaigns show all day by default |
| Average daily budget | The amount you set per campaign per day | Start small; Google can spend up to two times it on a single day |
| Ad text | Headlines up to 30 characters, descriptions up to 90 | Name the area, the service and one clear reason to call |
Why Search ads suit a local business
A local customer usually searches when they already need you: a plumber, a clinic, a coaching class, a bakery near them. Google Ads runs an auction every time someone searches on Google or visits a site that shows ads, so a Search campaign puts your ad in front of people at the moment they are looking.
For most local shops and service businesses, start with one Search campaign, a short list of keywords that say what you do and where (for example the service plus your area name), and the two assets that make an ad useful to a nearby customer: a call button and your location.
Step by step: set up Google Ads for a local business
- Set your location. In the campaign settings, choose your city or a smaller area around the shop. Google lets you target people who are in the place, regularly in it, or have shown interest in it. If you only serve people who are physically nearby, review the advanced location option so the ad is not shown mainly to people elsewhere who search for your area.
- Pick a few tight keywords. Use the words your customers type: the service, the product and the area. Leave out broad words that bring clicks from people who will never visit.
- Write the ad. A responsive search ad takes 3 to 15 headlines of up to 30 characters and 2 to 4 descriptions of up to 90 characters. Put the area and the service in a headline, and keep claims you can prove.
- Add a call asset. Do not type the phone number into the ad text: Google says that may get the ad disapproved. Use a call asset instead and set it to show only when you can take calls.
- Add a location asset. Link your Business Profile so the ad can show your address, a map or the distance to your shop.
- Set an ad schedule. Campaigns show ads all day unless you limit the hours or days, so match the schedule to your opening hours.
- Set a daily budget you are happy to spend every day of the month, then watch which searches bring calls and visits, and remove the ones that do not.
How much Google Ads costs for a local business in India
There is no fixed price. Each click is set in the auction: your bid is the most you are willing to pay for a click, and what you actually pay is often less. Google also weighs the quality of your ad and landing page, so a relevant ad with good assets can win a higher position at a lower price than a competitor with a higher bid.
You control the total with the average daily budget. On any one day Google can spend up to two times that amount for most campaigns, but in a month it charges at most 30.4 times your average daily budget. So the simplest way to plan is to decide your monthly limit and divide it by 30.4.
To estimate what that money buys, use the free CPC calculator and ad budget calculator with your own numbers once the campaign has run for a while. We do not quote typical Indian click prices here because they vary by city, trade and competition.
GST on Google Ads in India
Google's billing help says that if you receive services from Google Asia Pacific you are charged GST of 18% on all purchases, and that GSTINs are mandatory for business accounts but optional for individual accounts. GST for SEZ advertisers is 0%. Add your GSTIN in the billing settings if you have one. Whether you can claim input tax credit on ad spend depends on your own registration, so check with your accountant and Google's billing page before you plan around it.
Ads in Hindi and other Indian languages
Google Ads lists Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu among the languages you can select for language targeting. Ads in a language that is not supported for ads language targeting are disapproved, and some ad formats have their own language limits. Google is also changing how language targeting works for Search campaigns from September 2026, so read the language help page before you rely on the setting. Many local businesses run one ad in English and one in the language their customers speak, and compare the calls each brings.
Where Infinall AI helps, and where it does not
Infinall AI does not buy media for you and does not replace the Google Ads account itself. Where it helps a local business:
- Ad copy and images. Save your brand once from your website, then write headlines and descriptions and make images in your brand in Infinall Chat and Image.
- Ad Spy. Search a competitor or a keyword and see the ads they are running on Meta, Google and LinkedIn. Searching uses no credits today.
- Paid ads from the Social Hub. The New ad composer builds an ad in three steps and can run it on Google once a Google Ads account is connected, with up to 50 Google keywords per ad and a run time of 1 to 90 days. Google charges the budget to your ad account; Infinall uses 2 credits a month while an ad is live.
- Google reviews. Reply to your Google Business reviews from the Reviews tab, with an optional draft from Infinall AI.
Connecting an ad account is a Pro feature. The Free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card. In India Pro shows in rupees at checkout: Rs 999 for the first month, then Rs 2,899 a month or Rs 33,999 a year, with 3,000 credits a month. If you only need to run one small Search campaign, the Google Ads account on its own is enough.
Frequently asked questions
Is Google Ads worth it for a small local business in India?
It can be when people search for what you sell in your area, because the ad shows at the moment of the search. Start with a small daily budget, a tight location and call and location assets, and keep only the keywords that bring calls or visits.
Is there a minimum budget for Google Ads?
You set your own average daily budget per campaign. Google can spend up to two times it on a single day but charges at most 30.4 times it in a month for most campaigns. Check the budget help page in your account for current rules.
Can I put my phone number in the ad text?
No. Google says a phone number typed elsewhere in the ad text may lead to disapproval. Use a call asset instead, which adds a call button and can be limited to your business hours.
Do I pay GST on Google Ads in India?
Google's billing help says services from Google Asia Pacific carry GST of 18%, and a GSTIN is mandatory for business accounts. Ask your accountant how it applies to your registration.
Can Infinall AI run my Google Ads?
It can build and run an ad on Google from the Social Hub once you connect a Google Ads account, which needs Pro. Google still charges the ad spend to your own account, and Infinall uses 2 credits a month per live ad.
