Buffer Alternatives: 7 Social Schedulers Compared (2026)

The best Buffer alternatives depend on why you are leaving: Metricool and Pallyy have free plans and add analytics or client approvals, Hootsuite and SocialBee suit bigger teams with an inbox, and Infinall AI makes the posts as well as scheduling them. Buffer itself stays the cheapest paid option at $5 per month per channel, so switch for features or reliability, not price.

  1. 1. Metricool

Metricool pairs a scheduling calendar with best-time suggestions, social analytics and tracking of competitor profiles, and its paid plans are priced per brand rather than per channel. The free plan covers 1 brand with up to 20 posts a month. Reviewers report lost connections and failed video uploads in the mobile app, and say free analytics history was cut to 30 days.

  2. 2. Pallyy

Pallyy lets clients sign off posts from a shared calendar link without a paid seat, and it adds a social inbox for comments, DMs and reviews. Its free plan is image posts only. Reviewers say the mobile app does less than the browser version and looks quite different from desktop.

3 on the App Store (3 ratings), checked October 2026

  3. 3. CoSchedule

CoSchedule puts social posts in a shared marketing calendar and can reshare evergreen posts automatically, which Buffer does not list. The free plan schedules up to 15 posts at a time on 1 social profile. Older reviews call the price too high for some users and mention social accounts asking to re-authenticate for no clear reason.

4.3 on SaaSworthy (270 ratings), checked October 2026

  4. 4. Later

Later includes a Link in Bio page on its entry plan and adds a social inbox, approvals and competitive benchmarking on higher plans. It has no free plan, and Starter caps scheduling at 30 posts per profile. Reviewers report failed media uploads in the mobile app and frequent account reconnections.

4.4 on SaaSworthy (1,041 ratings), checked October 2026

  5. 5. SocialBee

SocialBee sorts posts into content categories, recycles evergreen posts and includes a social inbox, with a flat price for up to 5 profiles instead of a per channel fee. There is no free plan. Mobile reviewers say the app gets stuck after login and that a failed Instagram post lost their work.

  6. 6. Hootsuite

Hootsuite adds a unified messaging inbox, automated replies, routing and social listening, which go well beyond Buffer's comment inbox. It is far more expensive and has no free plan. Reviewers say it feels expensive for smaller teams and that some workflows are slow to set up.

    4.3 on G2 (7439 ratings), checked October 2026

  7. 7. Infinall AI

Infinall AI makes images, motion videos, voiceovers and copy from your saved brand, then puts them on a calendar in the Social Hub where you schedule posts or boost a published post as an ad. Planning and scheduling use no credits. The drawback: having a post publish by itself needs a connected account, connecting accounts is a Pro feature, and Pro includes 2 free connections before each extra account costs 300 credits a month.

How we picked these Buffer alternatives

We started from the complaints Buffer users leave in public reviews, which are mostly about publishing reliability: failed video posts, Instagram connections that drop and no clear reason when a post fails. We then looked for tools that schedule to the same kind of social channels and either fix a gap Buffer has (client approvals, evergreen recycling, a deeper inbox, competitor analytics, content creation) or offer a free plan.

Every price on this page comes from the vendor's own pricing page, and every complaint links to the review page it came from. We left tools out when we could not confirm their prices. RecurPost and open source schedulers often come up in searches for Buffer alternatives, but we have not reviewed them here, so check their own sites if those are on your list.

Quick comparison by need

  • You want a free plan: Buffer's own Free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel. Metricool's free plan covers 1 brand and 20 posts a month, Pallyy's covers one social set and 15 posts a month (images only), CoSchedule's covers 1 profile, and Infinall AI gives 1,000 credits a month with planning and reminders free.
  • You manage clients: Pallyy (approvals from a shared link) or Metricool (team, client and role management on Advanced).
  • You want analytics and competitor tracking: Metricool.
  • You recycle evergreen posts: SocialBee or CoSchedule.
  • You live on Instagram and need a link in bio page: Later.
  • You run a large team with customer care and listening: Hootsuite.
  • You need the images, videos and captions made too: Infinall AI.

Pricing notes before you switch

Buffer bills per channel: Essentials is $5 per month per channel and Team is $10 per month per channel, or $60 and $120 per channel billed yearly. For one to three accounts that is hard to beat. Most alternatives charge per brand, per social set, per user or a flat plan price, so compare on the number of accounts and people you actually have.

Worked example: with 4 channels, Buffer Essentials costs $20 a month. SocialBee Bootstrap costs $29 a month for up to 5 profiles, and Metricool Starter costs $25 a month for up to 5 brands. Hootsuite Standard starts at $99 per user a month, billed annually.

Infinall AI works differently: a flat plan plus credits. Scheduling, publishing and reminders use no credits. Pro costs $30 a month after a $10 first month, includes 3,000 credits and 2 free account connections, and each extra connected account uses 300 credits a month. In India, Pro is Rs 999 for the first month, then Rs 2,899 a month.

When to stay with Buffer

Stay with Buffer if your content is already made and you mainly need a cheap, simple queue. It schedules to a dozen networks, including Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business and Substack, which not every alternative covers. Its Team plan adds unlimited team members, approval workflows and branded reports at $10 per month per channel.

Its ratings are also strong: 4.7 on the App Store from 34754 ratings and 4.6 on Google Play from 57913 ratings when we checked. If your only issue is a dropped Instagram connection, try reconnecting the channel before moving your whole workflow.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free Buffer alternative?

Metricool's free plan covers 1 brand with up to 20 posts a month plus analytics, and Pallyy's free plan covers one social set with 15 scheduled posts a month for image posts. Buffer's own Free plan, with 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel, is still one of the most generous.

Is there an open source Buffer alternative?

Open source schedulers exist, but we have not reviewed them, so they are not on this list. Every tool here is a hosted service with a published price.

Is RecurPost a good Buffer alternative?

We have not checked RecurPost's prices or reviews, so we cannot compare it fairly here. For evergreen recycling, which is why people often look at it, SocialBee and CoSchedule both recycle evergreen posts.

Which Buffer alternative also creates the content?

Infinall AI makes images, motion videos, voiceovers and copy from your saved brand, then schedules them from the Social Hub calendar. The free plan gives 1,000 credits a month with no card.

Is Buffer cheaper than its alternatives?

Usually, for a small number of accounts. Buffer Essentials is $5 per month per channel, while most alternatives on this list start between $18.75 and $99 a month, though several include more accounts or features in that price.
