LinkedIn Ad Character Limits: Headlines, Intro Text and Sizes
LinkedIn recommends 150 characters of introductory text and a 70-character headline for single image and video ads. Video ads allow up to 600 characters of intro text and 200 for the headline, carousel cards take a 45-character headline, and text ads take a 25-character headline with a 75-character description.

LinkedIn publishes text guidance for each ad format on its ad specs pages, and the numbers differ by format. Most of them are recommendations, not hard limits: text past the recommended length can be cut off in the feed behind a see more link. Only the video ad page also states a maximum. This guide puts the character limits for single image, video, carousel and text ads in one table, followed by the image sizes and file rules you need for the same ads, all taken from LinkedIn's own specs pages.

LinkedIn Ad Character Limits: Headlines, Intro Text and Sizes
Pick the ad format first
Decide whether you are running a single image, video, carousel or text ad before you write a word. The limits are not shared: a 70-character headline fits a single image ad but is too long for a carousel card (45) and far too long for a text ad (25).
Write the hook into the first line
Put the offer or the reason to click at the start of the introductory text. Aim for the 150 characters LinkedIn recommends for single image and video ads, or 255 for carousels. Video ads accept up to 600 characters, but anything past the recommended length may sit behind see more, so treat the extra space as room for detail, not for the main point.
Write a short headline for each placement
Keep single image and video headlines near 70 characters, carousel card headlines at 45 and text ad headlines at 25. If you run the same message as several formats, write a separate headline for each rather than cutting one down at the last minute.
Count the characters before you upload
Paste each field into a character counter. Emoji, symbols and line breaks all count, so check the final text, not a draft. The free LinkedIn Ad Character Counter checks intro text, headlines and descriptions against LinkedIn's recommended lengths in your browser.
Size the image to match
Single image ads take jpg, png or gif files up to 5 MB, with 1200 x 628 pixels recommended for horizontal and 1200 x 1200 for square. Carousel cards are 1:1, at least 1080 x 1080 pixels, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB. The free LinkedIn Ad Image Resizer makes these sizes from one photo.
Make and run the ad
In Infinall AI, save your brand once from your website, then ask Infinall Chat or the composers for ad copy and images in your brand voice, and check them against the table above. The paid ad composer in the Social Hub can save a LinkedIn ad as a draft on any plan; running it needs a connected ad account, which is a Pro feature, and LinkedIn charges the spend to your own ad account.
Recommended lengths versus hard limits
LinkedIn lists most of its text numbers under the heading Text Recommendations. For single image, carousel and text ads, the specs pages give one number per field and no separate maximum, so treat those numbers as the length that shows well in the feed. The video ad page is the exception: it recommends 150 characters of introductory text and 70 for the headline, and it also states a maximum of 600 and 200. If you need the exact hard limit for another format, check LinkedIn's Help Center, which the specs pages link to for full technical details.
The practical rule is simple: write to the recommended number, and use the extra room only for detail a reader can skip.
LinkedIn ad sizes for the same formats
Character limits and image sizes are checked in the same review, so here are the image rules from the same specs pages:
- Single image ad, horizontal: 1.91:1, 1200 x 628 pixels recommended, minimum 640 x 360, maximum 7680 x 4320.
- Single image ad, square: 1:1, 1200 x 1200 pixels recommended, minimum 360 x 360, maximum 4320 x 4320.
- Single image ad, vertical (mobile only): 4:5 at 720 x 900 pixels avoids borders; 2:3 at 600 x 900 and 1:1.91 at 628 x 1200 are also listed.
- Single image file: jpg, png or gif, up to 5 MB.
- Carousel card: 1:1, at least 1080 x 1080 pixels, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB, with 2 to 10 cards per ad. Carousel ads do not support video.
- Video ad: MP4 in 4:5, 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1, with 30 frames per second recommended.
- Text ad logo: JPG or PNG, 100 x 100 pixels, up to 2MB.
Example: one message in four formats
Say you are promoting a free webinar. For a single image ad, the introductory text can state who it is for, the topic and the date inside 150 characters, with a headline such as the webinar title inside 70. For a carousel, each card headline must fit 45 characters, so give each card one idea: the speaker, the agenda, the sign-up. For a text ad, the 25-character headline has room for little more than the webinar name, and the 75-character description carries the date and the reason to register. Writing each version separately is faster than trimming the longest one four times.
Call to action buttons
The button text is not typed by you. LinkedIn lists fixed call to action options for single image and text ads: Apply, Download, View Quote, Learn More, Sign Up, Subscribe, Register, Join, Attend and Request Demo. Pick the one that matches the landing page, and do not spend introductory text repeating it.
Where Infinall AI helps, and where it does not
Infinall AI makes ad copy and images from your saved brand, so the voice and colours stay the same across formats. Always check the finished text in the free counter before you upload it. Infinall does not buy media: LinkedIn bills the ad spend to your own ad account. The Free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card; Pro costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year, and is needed to connect ad accounts.
