LinkedIn Carousel Ad Specs: Card Size, File Limits and Text Length

A LinkedIn carousel ad holds 2 to 10 cards, and each card is a 1:1 square JPG or PNG image of at least 1080 x 1080 pixels, up to 10 MB. LinkedIn recommends a card headline of 45 characters and introductory text of 255 characters. Carousel ads do not support video, and every ad needs a landing page URL.

LinkedIn carousel ads are Sponsored Content in the feed: one block of introductory text above a row of swipeable cards, each with its own image, headline and link. The specs are short, but they differ from single image ads, so a 1200 x 628 banner made for a single image ad will not fit a card. This guide lists every carousel spec from LinkedIn's own ad specs page, then shows how to make cards that meet them and where Infinall AI or a free tool helps.

LinkedIn Carousel Ad Specs: Card Size, File Limits and Text Length

  1. Plan 2 to 10 cards around one story

Write one line per card before you design anything: a problem, steps of a process, product features, or one customer type per card. LinkedIn allows 2 to 10 cards, so cut any card that does not add a new point. The first card has to work on its own, because it is the one people see before they swipe.

  2. Design square cards at 1080 x 1080 or larger

Set a 1:1 canvas of at least 1080 x 1080 pixels, the resolution LinkedIn recommends. Keep the same layout, fonts and colours on every card so the row reads as one ad, and keep text large enough to read on a phone.

  3. Write the headlines and intro text

Give each card a headline of about 45 characters and write introductory text of about 255 characters. These are LinkedIn's recommended lengths, so text beyond them may be cut off in the feed. The free LinkedIn Ad Character Counter checks the length as you type.

  4. Export JPG or PNG files under 10 MB

Save each card as a JPG or PNG. LinkedIn sets a maximum file size of 10 MB per card. PNG keeps sharp text; JPG gives smaller files for photos. Do not use video: LinkedIn says carousel ads do not support it at this time.

  5. Add a landing page URL to each card

A landing page URL is required, and it must start with http:// or https://. The destination field takes up to 2000 characters, which leaves room for tracking tags. Point each card to the page that matches it, not only to your home page.

  6. Make the cards with Infinall AI or a free tool

In Infinall AI, pick the 1:1 shape when you make an image from your saved brand; it makes 1024 x 1024 images, so use the free Resize with Fit or Crop to set 1080 x 1080, or Enhance to make the image 2 times bigger. If you already have square images, the free LinkedIn Ad Image Resizer makes 1200 x 1200 squares as JPG or PNG with no account.

LinkedIn carousel ad size

Every card is a square. LinkedIn's carousel specs list a 1:1 ratio and a recommended resolution of at least 1080 x 1080 pixels, in JPG or PNG, with a maximum file size of 10 MB. This is different from single image ads, which recommend 1200 x 628 for horizontal images and also take vertical shapes on mobile. Carousel cards take none of those shapes, so a horizontal banner or a portrait image needs to be cropped or redesigned as a square before you upload it.

A bigger square is fine as long as it stays 1:1 and under 10 MB. A 1200 x 1200 image, for example, meets the 1080 minimum.

LinkedIn carousel ad copy specs

There are three text fields. The introductory text sits above the cards, with a recommended length of 255 characters. Each card has a headline, recommended at 45 characters. The ad name is optional, can be up to 255 characters and is only shown to you in Campaign Manager. LinkedIn calls the headline and intro lengths text recommendations, so write to them: a short headline on each card reads better than a long one that gets cut off.

A simple pattern: put the offer and who it is for in the intro text, then use the card headlines as a numbered list of reasons, steps or features.

Carousel ad or document post

People sometimes mean a swipeable PDF post when they say LinkedIn carousel. That is a different format: an organic document post, not an ad with clickable cards. In Infinall AI you can turn images into a LinkedIn PDF for free, with up to 300 pages and a title of up to 200 characters, and post it from the Social Hub calendar. A LinkedIn post in the calendar can also hold up to 20 images, with a caption of up to 3000 characters. For a paid carousel ad, upload your square cards in LinkedIn Campaign Manager, which is where this guide's specs apply.

How Infinall AI helps

Infinall AI makes images from a prompt using your saved brand, so every card can share your logo, colours and voice. Pick 1:1 before you make them. Resize with Crop or Fit and Enhance are free and use no credits, so moving a card from 1024 x 1024 to 1080 x 1080 costs nothing. Ad Spy shows ads that brands are running on LinkedIn, Meta and Google, and you can open a result to see every slide of a carousel, which is a quick way to study how others structure theirs. Infinall Chat can draft card headlines for you, but check each one against the 45-character recommendation.

Infinall does not buy media for you; the ad and its budget run in your LinkedIn ad account. The free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card. Pro costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year. If you only need to resize a few finished images, the free resizer is quicker.
