A single image ad is one picture in the LinkedIn feed with introductory text above it, a headline below it and a call to action button. LinkedIn lists the image sizes, file rules and text lengths on its Single Image Ads specifications page. This guide puts every one of those numbers in one table, explains which shape to pick, and walks through making an image and text that meet the spec before you upload. All sizes and limits below come from LinkedIn's own specs page.

LinkedIn Single Image Ad Specs: Sizes, File Types and Text
Choose the image shape
Pick horizontal (1.91:1), square (1:1) or vertical. Horizontal at 1200 x 628 pixels is the classic feed shape. Square at 1200 x 1200 takes more room in the feed. Vertical shapes such as 4:5 at 720 x 900 show on mobile only, so use them when you know most of your audience scrolls on a phone.
Design at the recommended size
Start the canvas at the recommended pixel size rather than the minimum. Images smaller than 640 x 360 (horizontal), 360 x 360 (square) or 360 x 640 (vertical) fall below LinkedIn's minimums. Keep the main message and logo away from the edges so nothing important sits where the image meets the post frame.
Export as jpg, png or gif under 5 MB
Save the final image as jpg, png or gif and check the file size before upload. If a png comes out above 5 MB, export it as a jpg or reduce the pixel size toward the recommended dimensions, which are far below the maximums.
Write the text to length
Put the offer in the first line of the introductory text and aim for 150 characters. Keep the headline near 70 characters. Add a 70-character description only if the ad runs on the LinkedIn Audience Network. The free LinkedIn Ad Character Counter checks each field against these lengths in your browser.
Resize for each shape you run
If you want both a horizontal and a square version, make both from the same source image instead of stretching one. The free LinkedIn Ad Image Resizer turns one photo into the LinkedIn ad sizes in your browser.
Make and run the ad
In Infinall AI, save your brand once from your website, then make the image and the ad copy in your brand colours and voice, and check them against the table above. The New ad composer in the Social Hub can save a LinkedIn ad as a draft on any plan. Running it needs a connected ad account, which is a Pro feature, and LinkedIn charges the spend to your own ad account.
Horizontal, square or vertical: how to choose
All three shapes run as single image ads, and the choice is mostly about where people see the ad:
- Horizontal 1.91:1 (1200 x 628 pixels) suits desktop readers and images with a wide scene or a product beside a headline.
- Square 1:1 (1200 x 1200 pixels) fills more of the feed on both desktop and mobile, and is the easiest shape to reuse on other platforms.
- Vertical (4:5 at 720 x 900, 2:3 at 600 x 900 or 1:1.91 at 628 x 1200) shows on mobile only, so pair it with a horizontal or square version if you also want desktop reach.
If you are unsure, start with square: it meets the spec at a size most design tools offer by default.
Recommended sizes versus minimums and maximums
LinkedIn gives a recommended size, a minimum and a maximum for each shape. The recommended size is the one to design for. The minimums (640 x 360 horizontal, 360 x 360 square, 360 x 640 vertical) are the smallest LinkedIn accepts, and an image near the minimum can look soft on large screens. The maximums (7680 x 4320 horizontal, 4320 x 4320 square, 2430 x 4320 vertical) are well above what the feed shows, and a file that large is likely to pass the 5 MB limit anyway. Designing at 1200 pixels wide keeps files small and sharp.
Text that goes with the image
The text numbers on the specs page are recommendations: text past them may be cut off behind a see more link. Aim for 150 characters of introductory text and 70 for the headline. The description field, also 70 characters, is only required when the ad runs on the LinkedIn Audience Network. The optional ad name, up to 255 characters, is for your own campaign list and is not shown to viewers. The destination URL can be up to 2000 characters.
You do not type the button text. You pick one of the fixed call to action options: Apply, Download, View Quote, Learn More, Sign Up, Subscribe, Register, Join, Attend or Request Demo. Choose the one that matches the landing page.
Example: a webinar sign-up ad
Say you are promoting a free webinar. Make a square 1200 x 1200 image with the webinar title and speaker photo, export it as a jpg under 5 MB, and write introductory text that says who it is for, the topic and the date inside 150 characters. Use the webinar title as the headline inside 70 characters and pick Register as the call to action. If you also want a horizontal version, resize the same design to 1200 x 628 rather than cropping the square one by hand.
Where Infinall AI helps, and where it does not
Infinall AI makes ad images and copy from your saved brand, so the logo, colours and voice stay the same across every ad. You can download finished images without using credits. It does not check every image against LinkedIn's rules for you, so compare the final file with the table above or run it through the free resizer and counter. It also does not buy media: LinkedIn bills the ad spend to your own ad account. The Free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card; Pro costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year, and is needed to connect ad accounts.
