How to Add Music to a Video Ad Without Drowning Out Speech
To add music to a video ad, import the video and music into an editor, place the music on its own timeline row, then trim it and lower its volume beneath speech. Add fades, listen through the finished ad and export the video; Infinall AI offers free timeline audio editing on both plans, while generating music tracks requires Pro and uses credits.

Start with the ad's message rather than a favourite song. Decide whether the music should sit quietly beneath a spoken explanation or carry a product montage with no narration. Keep the original video and a separate copy of the music available so you can change the balance without starting again. The workflow below is tool-neutral: use the import, timeline, volume and export controls in your chosen editor. After the steps, see how to bring an existing track into Infinall AI or make a new background track in Audio mode.
How to Add Music to a Video Ad Without Drowning Out Speech
Decide what the music should do
Watch the ad without music and mark the product reveal, spoken offer and closing message. Write a short brief describing the mood, instruments and moments where the music should become quieter. For an ad with narration, try an instrumental track first and judge it against the spoken words rather than listening to it alone.
Choose a track and check its permitted use
Before editing, check the chosen track's licence or permission for your intended advertising use and keep that information with the project. Do not treat a downloadable song or an available music button as proof that your particular ad is covered. If the permission is unclear, choose another track or ask the rights holder before publishing.
Import the video and place the music separately
Bring your video and audio into the editor's media area, then place them on separate timeline rows. Keep the spoken audio audible while you try different positions for the music. Preview from the beginning to check that the track starts where you intended, not after an accidental gap.
Trim the track to the edit
Move and trim the music so its opening and ending suit the video rather than leaving the entire song on the timeline. Try placing a clear musical change near the product reveal, then listen to the transition in context. Add a fade at the start or end where an abrupt entry or stop distracts from the ad.
Balance music against speech
Begin with the music quiet and raise it only while the narration remains easy to understand. If your editor offers ducking, use it to lower music when someone speaks, then listen for distracting changes in level. Check the offer and closing line especially carefully; if they need more space, lower the music again instead of making everything louder.
Review the exported video, not just the timeline
Listen through the whole edit before exporting, including the opening, transitions and final fade. Export the finished video, reopen that file and check it on headphones and the speakers your audience is likely to use. Watch it muted as a separate review and make sure essential information is still visible before handing it over for publication.
Add an existing track in the Infinall AI Editor
Open AI Editor on a laptop or desktop and choose your video size. The editor does not open on phones or tablets and needs a screen at least 1024 pixels wide. In Media, upload or drag in your video and sound, then drag them onto the timeline. Each imported file can be up to 500 MB.
Move, trim and cut the clips on their timeline rows. Use Volume, Fade in and Fade out to shape the music, and use ducking to lower it beneath speech. Each fade can be up to half the clip length. The editor also offers free music and sounds if you do not need to generate a new track.
Importing, timeline editing, volume adjustments, fades, ducking and exporting use no credits on Free or Pro. Choose Export once there is content on the timeline. Export runs in your browser, so allow the computer to finish before reviewing the resulting video file.
Make a background track in Audio mode
In Audio, use the Music group. Music brief writes a text plan rather than sound and is available on Free and Pro, but it still uses credits. To create actual audio, choose Music track on Pro. Jingle and Sound effect also require Pro; Song with vocals and Music from visual show Soon and cannot be selected yet.
For a product demonstration, try a brief such as: 'Warm instrumental background for a product demo, gentle percussion, room for a spoken explanation, and a soft ending beneath the closing message.' Treat this as a starting point to audition, not a promise of an exact result. A music prompt can contain up to 2000 characters.
The generated track lands on your canvas. Mix with music needs another audio take on that same canvas, such as a voiceover; it is not the step that adds music to your video timeline. Export the audio, import it into the AI Editor with your video, and finish the timing there. Export and Mix with music are free, while generated music, jingles and effects use credits based on length. Each finished take shows its cost.
Choose the cheaper workflow for the job
If you already have an approved track and a video project in another editor, staying there can be the simpler choice. There is no need to move the whole project just to adjust music volume. Infinall AI fits when you want browser-based editing or need to create a background track before editing.
Infinall AI Free gives 1,000 credits every month with no card. You do not need Pro merely to import music, mix it on the editor timeline or export the finished video. Pro adds music generation and gives 3,000 credits a month. It costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year. Choose based on whether you need new audio, not on the assumption that basic video editing requires an upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add music to a video ad for free in Infinall AI?
Yes. Importing an existing track and using timeline editing, volume, fades, ducking and export in the AI Editor cost no credits. The editor also has free music and sounds. Creating a new Music track in Audio is different: that requires Pro and uses credits.
Why can I not mix the music on my canvas?
Mix with music needs another audio take on the same canvas. Without one, the panel says there is no other audio to mix with. For a video edit, export the track and bring it into the AI Editor alongside the video instead.
How loud should background music be beneath a voiceover?
Use speech clarity as your listening test rather than choosing an arbitrary volume setting. Start quietly, check every spoken line and reduce the music wherever it competes with the message. Preview any ducking through pauses as well as speech before exporting.
