How to Make a Carousel Post for Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook

To make a carousel post, plan one idea split across several slides, design every slide in the same shape, export them in order, then add them to one post with a single caption. On Instagram and Facebook you upload several images; on LinkedIn many people upload the slides as one PDF document, which LinkedIn shows page by page.

A carousel post is one post that holds several images or videos, which people swipe through. It works well for step-by-step tips, product features, before and after pictures and short stories, because each slide can carry one point. The work is the same whatever tool you use: decide the message, write the slide text, design the slides in one shape, export them in the right order and post them with one caption. This guide walks through those steps first, then shows how to do the same job in Infinall AI, where downloading slides and making a LinkedIn PDF are free.

Carousel format by platform: what to upload and the limits that matter
PlatformWhat you uploadLimits to check
InstagramSeveral images or videos in one feed post, one captionFeed images 1080 pixels wide with a height of 566 to 1440 pixels keep their resolution; caption up to 2200 characters. In the Infinall calendar an Instagram post holds up to 10 images or videos.
LinkedInOne PDF document whose pages act as slides, or several imagesLinkedIn document files: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT or PPTX; pages fit to one page size; layers flattened. In the Infinall calendar a LinkedIn PDF can be up to 100 MB and 300 pages, and the title up to 200 characters.
FacebookSeveral images in one postIn the Infinall calendar a Facebook post holds up to 10 images, or one video, and images and a video cannot be mixed.
TikTokSeveral photos in one postIn the Infinall calendar a TikTok post holds up to 35 photos, or one video.

How to Make a Carousel Post for Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook

  1. Pick one idea and a slide count

Write the single point the carousel should make, then split it into slides: a cover slide that states the promise, one slide per tip or feature, and a last slide with the next step, such as visiting your site. Keep each slide to one idea so it reads in a few seconds. Check the post limit of the platform before you plan more slides than it accepts.

  2. Write the text for every slide first

Draft the headline and short body text for each slide in a document before you design anything. Read the slides in order and cut anything that repeats. Write the post caption at the same time, because there is one caption for the whole carousel, and keep it within the platform limit: Instagram allows 2200 characters.

  3. Choose one shape for all slides

Use the same aspect ratio and pixel size for every slide so nothing gets cropped unevenly. For an Instagram feed post, a 1080 pixel wide image keeps its resolution when its height is between 566 and 1440 pixels, so a 1080 x 1080 square or a taller portrait up to 1080 x 1440 both work. For a LinkedIn PDF, LinkedIn asks that PDFs with multiple sized pages be fit to the same page size.

  4. Design the slides as a set

Keep the same fonts, colours, margins and logo position on every slide, and put the slide headline in the same place each time. Leave space at the edges so text is not cut off. Add a small cue on the cover, such as an arrow or the word Swipe, so people know there is more to see.

  5. Export the slides in order

Export each slide as an image file, and name the files with numbers (01, 02, 03) so they upload in the right order. For LinkedIn, combine the slides into one PDF instead. LinkedIn document ads accept PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT and PPTX, and PDFs with multiple layers must be flattened or merged, so export a flat PDF.

  6. Upload, check the order and post

Start a new post on the platform, select all the slide files at once, and check the order and cropping before you continue. Add the caption, tags and any location, then publish or schedule the post. Open the published post on a phone and swipe through every slide to check nothing was cropped.

How to make a carousel post on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook

On Instagram, a carousel is a normal feed post with more than one image or video selected. Choose one shape for the whole set before you upload, since every slide sits in the same frame, and write one caption that introduces all the slides.

On LinkedIn, the common way to get swipeable slides is a document post: export the slides as one flat PDF with every page the same size, upload it as a document and give it a title. LinkedIn shows the pages one after another in the feed.

On Facebook, select several images for one post. Keep them the same shape so the set looks consistent, and do not mix images with a video in the same post when you schedule it from the Infinall calendar.

How to make a carousel post in Infinall AI

  1. Save your brand once, then pin it to a Studio project so the slides use your logo, colours and voice.
  2. Open Image settings, pick one aspect ratio such as 1:1 or 4:5, and describe the slides. One send makes up to 4 images, and every image from that send comes out in the same shape.
  3. Fix any slide by describing the change or by dropping comment pins on it. Edits show their price before you confirm. Resize with Crop or Fit and Grade are free.
  4. Select the slides in order. Click Download ZIP to save them as one file, or Make LinkedIn PDF to build a PDF of square pages. For each page you choose Fit, which shows the whole image on white, or Fill, which crops it to the square, and you can move pages up or down.
  5. Click Add to calendar to make a post draft, write the caption, pick the platforms and schedule it.

Making new images uses credits. Downloading, making a ZIP, making a LinkedIn PDF and scheduling in the calendar never use credits. Only images can go in a LinkedIn PDF; videos and audio cannot.

Common carousel mistakes

  • Mixed shapes. A portrait slide next to a square slide gets cropped or padded. Set one size before you design.
  • Too much text per slide. If a slide needs a paragraph, split it into two slides.
  • A weak cover. The first slide decides whether anyone swipes, so state the promise there, not on slide two.
  • Wrong order after upload. Number your files and check the order on the upload screen.
  • A layered or mixed-size PDF on LinkedIn. Flatten the PDF and fit every page to one size before uploading.
  • No final check. Swipe through the published post on a phone to catch cropped text.

Free vs Pro for carousel posts in Infinall AI

The Free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card, which covers making slide images, and every export described here is free on both plans. The difference is publishing: to have a scheduled post go out by itself, the platform needs a connected account, and connecting an account is Pro. Without one you still plan and schedule the post in the calendar and get a reminder at the time, then post the downloaded slides yourself. Pro costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year (India: Rs 999 first month, then Rs 2,899 a month or Rs 33,999 a year), with 3,000 credits a month.

If you already design slides in another editor and only need to post them, you do not need to make images in Infinall at all: upload your files to a calendar post instead. Each uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.

Frequently asked questions

How many slides can a carousel post have?

It depends on the platform and how you post. When you schedule from the Infinall calendar, an Instagram post holds up to 10 images or videos, a Facebook post up to 10 images, a LinkedIn post up to 20 images or one PDF document, and a TikTok post up to 35 photos.

What size should carousel slides be?

Use the same size for every slide. For Instagram, a 1080 pixel wide image keeps its resolution when its height is between 566 and 1440 pixels, so a 1080 x 1080 square or a portrait up to 1080 x 1440 are safe choices.

How do I make a LinkedIn carousel?

Export your slides as one flat PDF with every page the same size, then upload it as a document post with a title. In Infinall AI, select the images and click Make LinkedIn PDF, which is free and holds up to 300 pages.

Does exporting a carousel in Infinall AI cost credits?

No. Downloading, making a ZIP and making a LinkedIn PDF never use credits. Only making or editing images with Infinall AI uses credits, and edits show the price before you confirm.
