Guide

Pinterest Pin Size: 1000 x 1500 Pixels, 2:3 Ratio and File Limits

The recommended Pinterest pin size is 1000 x 1500 pixels, a 2:3 aspect ratio, according to Pinterest's own ad specs. Upload a PNG or JPEG file up to 20 MB on desktop or 32 MB in the app, and avoid shapes taller than 2:3, because those pins might get cut off in people's feeds.

Pinterest gives one clear target for image pins: a 2:3 portrait shape, with 1000 x 1500 pixels as the example size. The same guidance covers organic pins and standard image ads. This guide lists the size, file type, file limits, safe zones and text limits from Pinterest's help pages, then shows how to make a pin that fits them. Pinterest states its sizes in pixels, so think in pixels and ratio rather than inches when you design for the feed.

Pinterest Pin Size: 1000 x 1500 Pixels, 2:3 Ratio and File Limits

  1. Set a 2:3 canvas

Start a new design at 1000 x 1500 pixels. If you start from an existing photo, crop it to 2:3 first rather than stretching it, so faces and products keep their shape.

  2. Place text inside the safe zones

Pinterest's pin specs list safe margins of 270 px at the top, 65 px on the left, 195 px on the right and 790 px at the bottom. Put headlines, prices and logos inside that area so they stay readable on any device.

  3. Check white and black backgrounds

Pinterest adds a faint layer to image pins with white or black backgrounds: black at 4% opacity on white pins in light mode, and white at 10% opacity on black pins in dark mode. If your brand colour must look exact, avoid pure white or pure black edges.

  4. Export a PNG or JPEG in sRGB

Pinterest converts every upload to an 8-bit RGB JPEG and does not support custom colour profiles, so upload PNG with sRGB to avoid losing quality. Keep the file under 20 MB if you upload from a desktop.

  5. Write the title and description

Write a title of up to 100 characters with the key words in the first 40, and a description of up to 800 characters. The description does not show in the feed, but Pinterest uses it to decide who sees the pin.

  6. Make, resize and schedule with Infinall AI or the free tool

The free Pinterest Pin Resizer crops or fits any photo to 1000 x 1500 and downloads a JPG or PNG. In Infinall AI, pick the 2:3 shape when you make an image, or open the editor's Pinterest card, which starts a 2:3 canvas at 1000 x 1500. Then add the pin to the Social Hub calendar, choose a board and schedule it.

Pinterest pin size in pixels

Pinterest's ad specs say: we recommend using a 2:3 aspect ratio, or 1000 x 1500 pixels. That is the size to use for both organic pins and standard image ads, which can run in paid campaigns or earn organic impressions. The ratio matters more than the exact pixel count: a larger 2:3 image keeps the same shape in the feed, while a shape taller than 2:3 might get cut off. Square and landscape images still upload, but they take less room in a portrait feed.

Pinterest pin size in inches

Pinterest does not state a pin size in inches. Screens show pixels, so the size that counts for the feed is 1000 x 1500 pixels at a 2:3 ratio. If a design tool asks for inches, set any 2:3 page and make sure the exported file is at least 1000 pixels wide and 1500 pixels tall. For a printed version of the same design, the inch size depends on the print resolution you choose, so keep the 2:3 shape and check with your printer.

Pinterest pin size in 2026

When we checked Pinterest's help pages in October 2026, the recommendation was still 1000 x 1500 pixels at 2:3, PNG or JPEG, with a 20 MB desktop limit and a 32 MB in-app limit. Pinterest can change its specs, so check the official pages in the sources list before a large campaign.

How Infinall AI helps with pins

Infinall AI makes images from a prompt using your saved brand, and you choose the shape before you make them. The 2:3 option makes images at 1024 x 1536 pixels, the same shape as a pin. Resize with Crop or Fit is free and accepts a width and height from 64 to 4096 pixels, so you can set exactly 1000 x 1500 if you want. Finished pins go to the Social Hub calendar, where a Pinterest post takes one image or one video, needs a board, and allows a caption of up to 800 characters. Posting by itself needs a connected Pinterest account, which is a Pro feature; without one you still schedule the post and get a reminder.

The free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card. Pro costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year. If you only need to resize one photo, the free Pinterest Pin Resizer is quicker and needs no account.
