Pinterest Safe Zone: Top 270, Left 65, Right 195, Bottom 790 px

The Pinterest safe zone is the area where Pinterest asks you to keep text, logos and other key elements: 270 px in from the top, 65 px from the left, 195 px from the right and 790 px from the bottom. Pinterest lists the same margins for image Pins and video Pins, so the Pin is easy to read on any device.

Checked October 2026. Sources are listed at the end of the page.

Pinterest lays buttons, the title and other parts of the app over the edges of a Pin, most of all on full screen video. The safe zone is the part of the frame that stays clear. Pinterest's Pin spec page gives it as four margins in pixels and says: put text and other elements within the dimensions below so users can easily see on any device when viewing. This guide lists those margins with the other Pin specs that go with them, shows how to build a simple safe zone template, and explains where Infinall AI and the free Pinterest tools help.

Pinterest Safe Zone: Top 270, Left 65, Right 195, Bottom 790 px

  1. Pick the canvas for the format

Start an image Pin at 1000 x 1500 pixels, the 2:3 size Pinterest recommends. For a full screen video Pin, start at 1080x1920, the 9:16 size Pinterest recommends for full-bleed video.

  2. Draw the safe zone guides

Add four guide lines in your design tool: 270 px down from the top, 65 px in from the left, 195 px in from the right and 790 px up from the bottom. Save this file as your own Pinterest safe zone template and reuse it for every Pin.

  3. Place the key elements inside the guides

Put the headline, logo, price, offer and any call to action inside the box the guides make. Background photos, textures and colour can run to the edges, because it does not matter if the app covers them.

  4. Check video frame by frame

For video Pins, scrub through the clip and check that text and logos stay inside the guides in every scene, not only the first frame. Pinterest lists the same margins for video as for image Pins.

  5. Export and write the copy

Export the image as PNG or JPEG under 20 MB if you upload from a computer. Write a title of up to 100 characters and a description of up to 800 characters. The description does not show in the home or search feed, but Pinterest uses it to decide who sees the Pin.

  6. Make and schedule with Infinall AI or the free tools

The free Pinterest Pin Resizer crops or fits a photo to 1000 x 1500, and the free Pinterest Pin Mockup previews the Pin and title before you post. In Infinall AI, open the editor's Pinterest card for a 1000 x 1500 canvas, place your text inside the margins above, then add the Pin to the Social Hub calendar and schedule it.

Pinterest safe zones in pixels

Pinterest's Pin spec page gives four margins: top 270 px, left 65 px, right 195 px and bottom 790 px. The bottom margin is the largest, because that is where the app places most of its own buttons and text on a full screen Pin. The right margin is three times the left, so a centred layout can still clip on the right. When in doubt, move text up and to the left.

Pinterest does not say which canvas size these pixel values assume. The margins leave a comfortable working area on a tall 9:16 video, but on a 2:3 image they take a large share of the height. Treat them as a firm rule for video and full screen views, and as a guide for where not to put small text on image Pins.

Pinterest safe zones for ads

Pinterest's help pages use the same Pin specs for organic Pins and for standard image ads, which can run in paid campaigns. That means the same safe zone applies to Pinterest ads: keep the brand name, offer and call to action inside the margins. Pinterest also adds a faint layer to image Pins with white or black backgrounds, black at 4% opacity in light mode and white at 10% opacity in dark mode, and this applies to paid image Pins too. If an exact brand colour matters, avoid pure white or pure black edges.

How to make a Pinterest safe zone template

A safe zone template is a blank canvas with guide lines at the four margins. Make one at 1000 x 1500 for image Pins and one at 1080x1920 for full screen video. Add the guides, lock them, and shade the outer strips in a light colour on a hidden layer so you can switch the overlay on to check a design and off to export it. Keep the template file with your brand fonts and colours so every new Pin starts from the same frame.

Where Infinall AI fits

Infinall AI makes images from a prompt using your saved brand, and you choose the shape before you make them. The editor has a Pinterest card that starts a 1000 x 1500 canvas, so you can add text and check it against the margins in this guide. Resize with Crop or Fit is free and accepts a width and height from 64 to 4096 pixels. Infinall AI does not draw Pinterest's safe zone on the canvas for you, so keep the margins above in mind or check the export in the free Pinterest Pin Mockup.

Finished Pins go to the Social Hub calendar, where a Pinterest post allows a caption of up to 800 characters. Posting by itself needs a connected Pinterest account, which is a Pro feature; without one you still schedule the post and get a reminder. The free plan gives 1,000 credits every month with no card. Pro costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pinterest safe zone?

It is the part of a Pin where Pinterest asks you to keep text and other elements: 270 px from the top, 65 px from the left, 195 px from the right and 790 px from the bottom.

Are the safe zones the same for image and video Pins?

Yes. Pinterest's Pin spec page lists the same four margins for image Pins and video Pins.

Do Pinterest ads use the same safe zone?

Pinterest's help pages give the same Pin specs for organic Pins and standard image ads, so keep ad text, logos and calls to action inside the same margins.

Is there an official Pinterest safe zone template?

The Pin spec page gives the margins in pixels rather than a template file. Make your own by adding guides at 270, 65, 195 and 790 px to a 1000 x 1500 or 1080x1920 canvas.

What canvas size should I use with the safe zone?

Pinterest recommends 1000 x 1500 pixels at 2:3 for image Pins and 1080x1920 at 9:16 for full-bleed video Pins.
