Marketing for Universities: Programme Ads, Posts and Lead Forms

Marketing for universities works best when each campaign promotes one programme, one intake or one event, with accurate entry details and a clear next step such as applying or registering. Infinall AI helps a university team make branded images, motion videos and copy, plan them on the Social Hub calendar and collect enquiries with lead form ads, starting with 1,000 free credits every month and no card.

The universities marketing problem

A university is not selling one product. It has many programmes, several intakes, open days, scholarships and events, and each one speaks to a different audience: school leavers, their parents, working adults looking at a postgraduate degree, and students from other countries. Most applicants compare several institutions over a long period before they apply, so a single ad rarely does the job. Marketing for universities and colleges is usually a steady run of posts and ads that move a prospective student from first interest to an enquiry, a visit and an application.

The hard part is accuracy and volume together. Every programme page has its own fees, deadlines, entry requirements and outcomes, and a post that gets one of those wrong causes real problems for applicants and for the admissions office. Faculties also want their own content, which makes it hard to keep the logo, colours and tone consistent. Ads that speak about the reader's personal situation, or that promise outcomes such as jobs or salaries, also need extra care under ad platform policies.

How to run universities ads with Infinall AI

  1. Save the university brand from its website

Paste the university's public website address into Brand Brain. Infinall AI reads up to 20 pages, asks about anything it could not find and lets you confirm the result. Check the logo, colours, fonts, voice and audience profiles before you confirm, and keep one confirmed brand so every faculty works from the same details. Adding and editing a brand are free, with no credits used, on both plans.

  2. Make an image or motion video for one programme or event

Pick a single campaign, such as an open day, a scholarship deadline or a new postgraduate programme. In the Image composer, select the brand chip and describe the layout; you can attach up to 6 reference pictures, such as real campus photos. In Motion, choose the brand, shape, length (10 to 60 seconds when you pick it yourself) and quality, then describe the programme. Both use credits on Free and Pro. Check every date, fee and requirement against the official programme page.

  3. Write captions and ad copy in Infinall Chat

Select the saved brand in Infinall Chat and paste in the facts you want to use: programme name, intake, deadline and the link to apply or register. Ask for a short caption, a LinkedIn version for working professionals and Google search headlines. Remove any outcome you cannot support, such as employment rates or rankings that are not on your own published pages.

  4. Schedule posts and collect enquiries

Add the approved creative and caption to the Social Hub calendar, choose the platforms and set dates around your intake calendar. Planning and scheduling never use credits. Platforms with a connected account post by themselves; otherwise you get a reminder. Connecting accounts is Pro. With a connected ad account you can boost a published post or run a lead form ad on Meta or LinkedIn so prospective students can ask for a prospectus without leaving the app.

  5. Look at other institutions in Ad Spy

Search another university's website or a keyword such as a programme name in Ad Spy on Meta, Google or LinkedIn. Searching is free on both plans. Open the ad tiles to read the copy and see which programmes and events they promote, and use that as input for your own brief. An ad being live does not tell you whether it brought in applications.

Ad ideas that fit a university

Open day or campus tour: a campus image with the date, the location and a registration link, posted a few weeks ahead with a reminder closer to the day. A short motion video can walk through the day's schedule.

Application deadline: one clear image per programme with the intake and the closing date, plus a caption that links straight to the application page. Keep the date large and the rest of the text short.

Postgraduate and executive programmes: these suit LinkedIn, where working professionals compare part-time and online options. Lead with the format (part-time, online, weekend) and the start date.

Scholarships and international students: explain who can apply and where the full terms are, rather than squeezing conditions into the image. These are starting points for a brief, not claims about what will perform best for your institution.

Which platforms and sizes to use

Instagram feed: Instagram keeps a photo at its original resolution when it is between 320 and 1080 pixels wide and its aspect ratio is between 1.91:1 and 3:4. At 1080 pixels wide that means a height between 566 and 1440 pixels. Instagram captions can be up to 2,200 characters. For stories, the Instagram publishing documentation recommends a 9:16 aspect ratio to avoid cropping or blank space.

LinkedIn single image ads: LinkedIn recommends 1200 x 628 pixels for a horizontal image (1.91:1) and 1200 x 1200 pixels for a square one (1:1), with a 4:5 vertical option at 720 x 900 pixels for mobile. Keep introductory text to about 150 characters and the headline to about 70 characters, which LinkedIn gives as its recommended lengths.

Google search ads: responsive search ad headlines support up to 30 characters and descriptions up to 90 characters. Write around the programme name, the level of study and the intake, since people searching for a course usually type exactly that. The free resizers and character counters linked on this page help prepare each version.

Policy watch-outs for education ads

Personal attributes: Meta's ad standards say ads must not contain content that asserts or implies personal attributes. For a university this rules out copy that speaks to the reader as if you know their situation, so write about the programme, not about the person reading.

Guaranteed outcomes: Google's policy says that if you guarantee certain results, you're required to have a clear and easily accessible refund (money-back) policy. Avoid promising a job, a salary or a visa in an ad unless your institution has approved the wording and has that policy in place.

Endorsements and pricing: Meta's prohibited commercial practices include deceptive pricing and unauthorized endorsements. Do not show employer logos, alumni quotes or fee figures that the university has not approved and published. Google Ads editorial rules also disallow incorrect capitalization, gimmicky repetition and misused punctuation, so keep deadlines in plain sentences rather than all capitals.

Budget and credits

Free gives 1,000 credits every month with no card. Pro gives 3,000 credits a month and costs $10 for the first month, then $30 a month or $299 a year. In India, rupee checkout is Rs 999 for the first month, then Rs 2,899 a month or Rs 33,999 a year. One credit is one US cent.

Brand setup, Ad Spy searches, calendar planning, scheduling, publishing and lead forms do not use credits. Images and motion videos do, and Motion is priced on what each video uses. A live ad or live boost uses 2 credits a month, and the ad platform charges the media budget to the university's own ad account. Infinall AI does not buy media for you.

If your university already has an in-house design team and a scheduling tool, Infinall AI is most useful for producing more programme and event variations quickly. If you only post a few announcements a term, approved photos and hand-written posts may be enough.

Frequently asked questions

What does digital marketing for universities usually include?

Social posts and ads for programmes, intakes and events, search ads for programme names, and a way to capture enquiries such as a lead form or a registration page. Infinall AI covers the creative, the copy, the calendar and lead form ads on Meta and LinkedIn; your web team still owns the programme pages and application system.

Can several faculties share one brand?

Yes. Save the university brand once in Brand Brain and pick it with the brand chip in each composer, so images, motion videos and copy use the same logo, colours and voice. Only confirmed brands in your workspace can be picked.

Can a university start on the Free plan?

Yes. Free includes 1,000 credits every month, Brand Brain, images, Motion, Infinall Chat, Ad Spy and the calendar. Posting automatically and running ads need a connected account, and connecting accounts requires Pro.

How many questions can a lead form ask?

Up to 15 questions on Meta and up to 3 on LinkedIn. Keep the form short, for example name, email and programme of interest, and send the full details in your follow-up.
