Change a video
How to get a changed version of a motion video today: send a new prompt and keep both videos on the canvas.
#What it is
Today every prompt you send in Motion makes a new video. To change a video, you send a new prompt that describes the version you want. The new video lands next to the first one, so you keep both.
#Who can use it
Everyone. Free and Pro work the same way.
#Cost
Uses credits. A changed version is a new video, so it is charged like any other. Motion is charged on what the video uses, and the quality menu shows an estimate.
#Where to find it
Open the Studio project with your motion video. The prompt box is at the bottom of the chat panel, and the Copy button is on your earlier message.
#Buttons and controls
| # | Name in the app | What it does | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Copy | Shows when you move over your earlier message. Copies its text. It reads Copied for a moment after. | Both |
| 2 | Scenes, on-screen text, transitions, length and aspect (e.g. 15 s, 9:16, 4 text scenes plus logo end card) | The prompt box. Paste and change your earlier prompt here. | Both |
| 3 | Generate motion video | Starts the changed version as a new video. | Both |
#How to get a changed version
- Move over your earlier message in the chat. It starts with "Motion:".
- Click Copy.
- Click in the prompt box and paste.
- Delete the "Motion: " at the start. Change what you want, such as the words, the colours or the length.
- Click Generate motion video.
- A new card appears on the canvas. The first video stays where it was.
#Options explained
Be specific. Say exactly what is different. For example: "Same 15 s promo, but the headline reads Try it free, and the end card is dark blue."
Keep what you liked. Paste your whole earlier prompt and change only the part you want different.
Shape and length. Pick a different Aspect ratio or Length to get the same idea in another size.
Quality level. Pick Max in Motion model when you want a more careful version of the same idea.
#Limits
- Each prompt makes one new video. There is no in-place edit of a finished video.
- Versions of a motion video are not stacked in a row. Each one is its own card.
#When something goes wrong
| Message in the app | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Couldn't make that motion video. | The new version failed. | Check your balance, then send again. |
| Answered. | Your message was not read as a video brief, so no video was made. | Describe the video in full, with scenes and words. |
#Questions
#Can I edit a finished video by chatting with it?
Not in the Motion box today. Each prompt starts a new video. Send a new prompt that describes the change.
#Will my first video be lost?
No. It stays on the canvas. Delete it yourself if you do not need it.
#Why does Edit & resend not fill the Motion box?
Do not use it for motion prompts. Use Copy, then paste into the prompt box.
#Can I swap just one scene?
Not at the moment. Write a new prompt that describes all the scenes.
#How do I keep track of versions?
Each video is its own card on the canvas. See Canvas for moving and naming things, and Versions for how image versions work.
