Free and ProFree, no creditsStudio project > Motion > the video card on the canvas and the activity card in the chat

#What it is

While a video is being made, two things update live. A card on the canvas shows the stage and a progress bar. A card in the chat lists each step as it starts and finishes.

#Who can use it

Everyone. Free and Pro see the same live view.

#Cost

Free, no credits. Watching never uses credits. The video itself uses credits, see Make a motion video.

#Where to find it

Open the Studio project where you started the video. The card is on the canvas. The activity card is in the chat panel on the right, under your message that starts with "Motion:".

#Options explained

Steps you may see in the activity feed. Which ones appear depends on your prompt.

RowWhat it means
StartingThe video job has begun.
Looking at your imagesPictures attached to the job are being read.
Listening to your musicMusic attached to the job is being read.
Writing the shot listYour prompt is being turned into scenes. If you wrote a scene by scene list, the row says Reading your shot list.
Preparing visual assetsIcons, brand logo and other visuals are being gathered.
Recording the voiceoverYour voiceover lines are being spoken. Only when you asked for a voice.
Composing musicA music track is being chosen and fitted to the length. Only when you asked for music.
Mixing voice, music and effectsThe soundtrack is being put together.
Designing the scenesEvery scene is written as animation. One row per scene sits under this row, Scene 1, Scene 2 and so on, each with its purpose.
Checking the scene codeA quick check that the scenes are sound.
Checking layout and readabilityText is checked so it is not cut off or hard to read. Longer, richer prompts get this and the next checks.
Carry inspector: does each scene grow out of the last? The joins between scenes are checked.
Review: QA + creative director on real framesReal frames are reviewed and fixed.
Polishing scene NA scene is being improved after review.
Your video is readyDone. The detail shows the length and the number of scenes.

Rows that open. A row with an arrow opens to show more, such as the script, the voiceover lines, the shot list or what was found. Each shows its own label, for example Script, Voiceover or Shot list.

Time on a row. A finished row shows how long it took.

Stage text on the card. Typical stages are Reading your attachments, Preparing visual assets, Designing the scenes, Checking the frames, Finishing and Ready.

#Limits

  • The feed shows one row per step. A step that runs twice updates the same row.
  • Quick prompts skip the deeper checks, so they have fewer rows and finish sooner.

#Questions

#Why is there no preview of each scene?

The scene strip lists each scene by number and purpose. It does not show a picture of the scene while the video builds.

#How long does a video take?

It depends on the length and the prompt. The card shows how many seconds have passed. Quick prompts finish sooner than long, detailed ones.

#Can I leave the page while it builds?

Yes. The job keeps running. When you open the project again, the card comes back and picks up where it is.

#What does the number next to the title mean?

While building it is the scene count. When the video is done it shows the length and the shape, for example 15s and 16:9.

#What if I do not want the video any more?

Once a video starts it runs to its end, fails, or stops when your credits run out. Ignore the result, or delete the card when it is done.
